Ambrose Weeres & Weeres Industries: the Origins of the Pontoon Boat
Pontoon Boats (aka “the floating party”) were invented in 1951 by a Minnesota farmer named Ambrose Weeres, sparking an entirely new industry in recreational boating.
Even though Mr. Weeres died in the early 1990’s, his company, Weeres Industries, is still around today and has built & sold over 30,000 pontoon boats to customers around the globe!
If you think about all the good times and family fun people have had on pontoon boats over the years, you realize that Mr. Weeres contribution to boating history has added a lot of happiness to the world.
